Budget Chocolate Hills & Tarsiers Day

About this experience

This is the Essential version of the premium countryside day, run by the same Panglao team. It is a driver-only tour: your driver takes you to each stop, tells you the meeting time and sorts the tickets, and you explore at your own pace. The stops are the real highlights: the Chocolate Hills, the man-made forest, the tarsier sanctuary and the Loboc River. No souvenir shops, no stops to kill time, per the listing.

You meet in Panglao from 7:30 AM at McDonald's on Danao Panglao Road, or at Mario's Café in Tagbilaran or the 7-Eleven in Loboc, and you are back around 4:25 PM. Joining later on the route means a little less time on the tour. When weather and timing allow, the driver may add a bonus stop such as an underground cave or an old heritage church.

Two things are paid on the day in pesos, per the listing: ₱500 per person for entrance and environmental fees, which the driver turns into tickets for you, and lunch. At Loboc you choose the Loboc River cruise with buffet lunch at ₱1,200 per person or another restaurant by the river. Read our Chocolate Hills guide in the van and you will have the stories a guide would tell. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and you can reserve now and pay later.

Tips before you book

  • Bring ₱500 per person in cash for the fees, plus lunch money. The driver handles the tickets with it.
  • Note the meeting time at every stop. With a driver-only tour, the van leaves on the time you were given.
  • Read up before you go: our tarsier sanctuary guide explains what you are looking at. Tarsiers are nocturnal, so you will see them asleep or half awake in the leaves. The Philippine Tarsier Foundation asks visitors to keep their voices low, switch off the flash and never touch or feed them.
  • The main viewing deck at the Chocolate Hills Complex in Carmen is about 214 steps up, so wear shoes with grip.
  • Solo? Guests say they never felt left out. Sit up front if you get carsick on the winding inland roads.
