Chocolate Hills, Tarsiers & Loboc River Day Tour

About this experience

Tarsier Trails is new on GetYourGuide but not new to Bohol, and it already holds one of the best ratings of any countryside tour here. The group is small, 15 at most, and rides in a high-roof van with real legroom. The day opens at the man-made forest, a cool tunnel of mahogany trees, then climbs to the Chocolate Hills in Carmen. After that you see the tarsiers and stop at the Loboc River, where you can take the cruise with lunch. The tour closes at Baclayon Church, one of the oldest churches in the Philippines, with roots in 1596.

Your guide does more than point. Guests mention the history, the local facts, the music in the van and the WhatsApp updates on pickup times. The guide also handles the ticket lines and takes photos at every stop. Pickup and drop-off are within the Tagbilaran and Panglao area, and the drive to the first stop takes about 1.5 hours. If everyone in the group agrees, you can add an ATV ride, a zipline or Guwaon Cave, each with its own fee.

Two costs are separate, per the listing. The environmental fee of ₱500 per person is collected at pickup, so have it ready in cash when the van arrives. The Loboc River cruise with lunch is optional and paid on site. The listing rules the tour out for wheelchair users, babies under 1, people with altitude sickness and anyone over 70, and asks you to leave strollers and large bags behind. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, and you can reserve now and pay later.

What guests say

★★★★★

I would 100% recommend this option for anyone visiting Panglao. We were looking for a guided tour that includes an actual guide (not just a driver who acts as a guide). Christine did amazing; she knows all the facts, cultural, historic...and is willing to answer all your questions. [...] The whole excursion was a highlight!

Tips before you book

  • Have ₱500 per person in cash ready when the van arrives. The listing says the environmental fee is collected at pickup.
  • Decide on the cruise early. It is optional and paid on site, and the guide can plan the Loboc stop around your choice.
  • Bring a passport or ID card, sunglasses, a sun hat and sunscreen, as the listing suggests. Leave the stroller and big bags at the hotel.
  • Tarsiers are nocturnal, so you will see them asleep or half awake in the leaves. The Philippine Tarsier Foundation asks visitors to keep their voices low, switch off the flash and never touch or feed them.
  • Baclayon Church was restored after the 2013 earthquake. Cover shoulders and knees if you go inside.
